Sherie Motakef, Ph.D.

CTO and VP of Technical Marketing

Dr. Sherie Motakef holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in Materials Sciences and Engineering and Optics from MIT and the University of Arizona. To complement her technical background, Dr. Motakef has over 15 years of experience in new business development, strategic and tactical marketing, and development of new applications in the semiconductors, chemicals, photonics, telecommunications, and defense industries. She has held various management roles at companies such as Air Products and Chemicals, Cymer, FEI, CVI Melles Griot, and BAE Systems. In her most recent role, she was the general manager of the Advanced Ceramics division of BAE Systems. Dr. Motakef is the author/co-author of multiple technical papers in peer-reviewed journals, she holds 1 US patent, and she is the recipient of awards from the American Chemical Society and the American Ceramic Society.


Marilee Mohajer

Marilee Mohajer is an educator with more than 30 years of teaching and research experience.  Her expertise contributes greatly to Savant Company's excellence in training and our ability to offer the highest quality conferences, seminars, and workshops.  

Marilee has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from Northern Illinois University, and she has completed graduate work at University of California, Los Angeles.

Janice  Ozguc, MSEE

Janice  Ozguc is a business development and strategic marketing consultant for electronics companies.  She has over 20 years of experience in the high tech industry, principally in the areas of executive management, strategic marketing, and business development, as well as design engineering and applications engineering.  Prior to establishing her consulting business, Janice was Vice President for Networking Products at Kawasaki LSI, U.S.A.  Janice’s business development work enabled Kawasaki to become a major player in the networking market. Janice holds an MSEE and undergraduate degrees from Boston University.


Babak Goudarzi Pour
Co-founder, CEO, Optimum Biometric Labs

Babak Goudarzi Pour has served as the Chairman of the Swedish National Biometric Association, SNBA, since its inception in 2004. He also works as Swedish technical expert in the international standardization work ISO/IEC/JTC 1/SC 37 and its expert groups WG2 and WG5 with specialization on Biometric-technical interface and Biometric-testing and reporting. He has frequently chairing industry panels in Bussels coordinated by the European Commission/Joint Research Center (JRC) and European Biometric Forum (EBF). Babak's breakthrough started in 2003 when he was invited to guest lecture at the Biometrics Identification seminar held by Dr. James L Wayman at the UCLA. He presented his multiple award-winning work “Facial Recognition Biometrics, applying new concepts in performance improvement and quality assessment” for representatives of FBI, DoD and DHS. Babak holds a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Signal Processing and Telecommunications from Blekinge Institute of Technology.

Joe Tinervia

Joe Tinervia, a 20-year veteran of the New York book-publishing scene, is the author of a number of textbooks on business communications, writing, and English grammar. He is a former Editorial Director of the McGraw-Hill Book Company, where he specialized in business communications.

Today, as Director of The Writing Center, Joe conducts seminars on writing, vocabulary development, grammar and punctuation, presentation skills, and time-management techniques.

Bill Dresselhaus, MSChE, MSPD

Bill Dresselhaus is passionate about the creative innovation process. With an extensive career in the trenches of new product design and development, he wears many hats—product engineer, industrial designer, business entrepreneur, innovation strategist, graphic artist, educator, author, speaker and publisher. Bill provides management, consulting and training internationally to entrepreneurs, corporations and educational institutions for revolutionary business success. 

Bill was one of the first in-house product designers at Apple Computer, leading and managing the design process there for several innovative new products, including the forerunner of the Macintosh. After leaving Apple as a Product Design Manager, he continued as a design consultant to Apple on a number of new computer products. Bill is featured as an early Apple innovator in the book by Paul Kunkel, AppleDesign: The Work of the Apple Industrial Design Group (Graphis Press).   More on Bill

M. Grewal, Ph.D.

Mohinder Grewal is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at California State University, Fullerton. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a Specialization in Control Systems and Computers from the University of Southern California. Dr. Grewal co-authored Kalman Filtering Theory & Practice Using MATLAB (Second Edition) and Global Positioning Systems, Inertial Navigation & Integration, published by Wiley & Sons in 2001. He was invited to author the "Kalman Filters and Observers" article for the Wiley & Sons Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (1999) and "The Kalman Filter" for Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS), now under development as part of a scholarly partnership with UNESCO.

Laura LeBlanc

Laura LeBlanc has 20 years of experience in the electronics industry in the areas of business development, strategic marketing, account management, sales, application engineering, and design engineering. Her unique blend of business and technical experience enables her to develop strong customer relationships; identify technical and business needs; and develop and execute marketing and sales strategies to help companies achieve their business goals.  Laura is the former Director of Networking Products for Kawasaki LSI, U.S.A., where she developed product marketing and sales strategies based on market trends and requirements for established and emerging markets. Laura holds a BSCE from Boston University.


Mahnaz Moghaddam

Mahnaz Moghaddamc has 20 years of experience in ASIC and SoC design and development. Her unique blend of business and technical experience enables her to develop strong customer relationships; identify technical and business needs; and develop and execute complex ASIC/SoC/ASSP engineering tasks to help companies achieve their product development goals.  Mahnaz is the former Sr. Engineering Manager of Toshiba America Electronic Components, where she managed an ASIC/SoC Engineering team, worked very closely with Toshiba customers in the North America and developed many complex ASIC/SoC designs for them.


Judith Kahn, MBA

Judith G. Kahn is a public relations consultant providing communications counsel and related services for technology companies.  She brings more than 20 years of high-tech public relations experience to her clients.  Before starting her consultancy, she was a Vice President and cabinet member of the Technology Leadership Practice in the Silicon Valley office of KVO Public Relations, a Fleishman-Hillard company.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing/Computers and Information Systems from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Joanna Colunga

Joanna Colunga received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University.  As the Training and Conference Coordinator for a large, private, non-profit, social service organization in Los Angeles, Joanna planned and organized numerous local, regional, and national conferences.  In addition to large-scale conferences, Joanna has organized and implemented a wide variety courses and training series for professionals in social work, law enforcement, mental health, early childhood, and medical fields on child-welfare issues.

Hossein Moini, Ph.D.

Hossein Moini is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at California State University, Fullerton. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1986.  Dr. Moini's current research and development activities are focused on the design of mechatronics systems, adaptive structures, and microprocessor applications in mechanical engineering.

He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and other professional organizations

Farzin Jahed, MBA

Farzin Jahed has 18 years of experience in the electronics industry, more than 14 with Toshiba America Electronic Components, where he specialized in application engineering and hardware engineering, with an emphasis in memory technology, architecture, and applications.  Farzin is involved in the study of IPs for various market segments such as wireless, computing, automotive, and networking. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and his Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University.  Farzin is a marketing and technical consultant with leading-edge electronic companies.
