Multimedia Technology Seminar |
|
Multimedia capabilities and technologies are now a de facto feature in almost all the electronic equipment for the digital consumer market. Transferring, sharing, and using video and audio files among PCs, TVs, home entertainment equipment, etc., are continuously pushing the limits of the compression technologies to meet the desired content qualities, to conform with backward compatibility standards, and to keep file sizes small.
This seminar provides a comprehensive overview of the latest image, video, and audio compression fundamentals, of the latest standards, and of emerging applications. Fundamentals of video compression (including prediction with motion estimation and compensation, etc.) will be reviewed. The JPEG still-image standard as the foundation for video compression methods such as MPEG and H.26x will be reviewed and discussed. The MPEG video compression standards such as MPEG-1/2/4/7 will be reviewed and compared. Standards for practical digital video coding to support interlace and HDTV will be discussed. In addition, practical applications for streaming media, wireless applications, digital television, internet video streaming, mobile multimedia, and games will be discussed with real-world examples.
